Nutrition labelling requirements in Cuba
Packaged food sold in Cuba must carry a nutrition declaration under Resolución 250/2010 MINSAP + NC 108 (ONN). This page covers the Cuba - MINSAP Resolución 250/2010 + NC 108 format: Spanish Codex baseline via MINSAP + ONN. A compliant Cuban nutrition label declares 7 mandatory nutrients: energía, proteínas, grasa total, grasa saturada, carbohidratos totales, azúcares totales and sodio. Values are declared per serving as sold, with energy in kcal, and sodium rather than salt. The panel is headed "Información Nutricional". Spanish is required on pack. There is no mandatory front-of-pack warning scheme. NFL builds a print-ready Cuban nutrition label from your recipe, applying the rounding rules and reference intakes for Cuba automatically, and exports it as PDF, PNG, SVG, JPG or EPS.

Key facts
Cuba food labelling requirements under NC 108
Cuba's general labelling standard is NC 108:2012, General standard for the labelling of prepackaged foods, issued by the Oficina Nacional de Normalización (ONN). It is a mandatory Cuban standard for prepackaged foods sold to consumers or caterers, based on the Codex General Standard with Cuban national provisions added.
NC 108 makes these mandatory where they apply:
- a name showing the food's true nature;
- ingredients in descending order of weight, except for single-ingredient foods;
- net quantity in metric units, plus drained weight for foods in liquid;
- name and address of the manufacturer, packer, distributor, importer, exporter or seller;
- country of origin where omission could mislead;
- indelible lot identification;
- date marking, storage conditions and instructions for use;
- allergens, including gluten cereals, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soy, milk, tree nuts and sulphites; and
- a written statement for irradiated foods (the radura symbol is voluntary).
The name and net contents must appear in the same field of vision.

Cuba food label language requirements
Under Decree-Law 9/2020 on food safety and Decree 18/2020, information accompanying food must be in Spanish or, failing that, in English. Producers, packers and sellers must make sure labels meet Cuban technical standards.
NC 108 allows a supplementary label where the original language is not acceptable to consumers, as long as it reproduces the mandatory information completely and accurately. For packs intended for Cuban consumers, plan around Spanish.
MINSAP Resolution 250/2010, sometimes cited for food labels, could not be confirmed as a labelling rule in official sources, so no requirement here is based on it.

Cuba imported food labelling and sanitary registration
Under MINSAP Resolution 262/2020, registration in the Sanitary Register is mandatory before covered products are sold, imported or exported. The application includes the product label, and the label design is checked against Cuban technical standards.
Imported prepackaged foods follow the same NC 108 rules. The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) holds sanitary responsibility for food, with its National Directorate of Environmental Health acting as the sanitary authority, while ONN coordinates standards within the national food safety system.

Cuba nutrition label and claims
NC 108 does not itself set a nutrition panel with a fixed list of nutrients for every prepackaged food, so a general panel is not confirmed as mandatory from NC 108 alone. Check any separate Cuban nutrition labelling rule for your product.
Labels must not be false or misleading. NC 108 requires the quantity of an ingredient to be declared when it is emphasised in words or pictures or when omission could mislead.
For alcoholic drinks, a Cuban national provision makes alcoholic strength mandatory on the label and states that property claims do not apply to them.
